Jointly organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, the Hong Kong International Stationery Fair will be staged at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 6 – 9 January 2020. Entering its 20th edition, the fair is expecting to welcome some 260 global exhibitors to showcase a comprehensive range of stationery products, providing an ideal one-stop sourcing platform for buyers. In 2019, the fair attracted over 20,000 international buyers.
“It is not easy for a fair to reach 20 years of service, but thanks to support from the industry across Asia, the fair has reached a new milestone,” said Ms Judy Cheung, Deputy General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd. “Moving into the next decade, the show will carry on stimulating new business and serve as a touch point for buyers to locate exciting stationery trends.”
zones to present wide range of products
To optimise buyers’ sourcing experience, the fair will be categorised under five distinct product zones, namely DIY Supplies, Gift Stationery, Kids & School, Pen & Paper and Smart Office. The fair also continues to receive support from the industry across Asia, featuring pavilions from Korea and Taiwan in cooperation with renowned industry associations, the Korea Stationery Industry Cooperative (KSIC) and the Taiwan Association of Stationery Industries.
praised by exhibitors
With its long history and strong connection with international buyers, many exhibitors see the fair as a must-attend event of the year. One such exhibitor is Mirage Int’l Industries Inc, who have been returning to the fair since its first edition in 2001. Mr Scott Wen, the International Sales Manager of the company said: “Walking hand-in-hand for the past 19 years, the fair has been one of the most effective trade fairs for our products and company. We are sure that we will have a presence at the 20th edition too.”
Kai Rong (Magnets) Industrial Co Ltd is another loyal exhibitor of the fair. They participate regularly because the fair attracts diverse visitors: “We have been returning for 11 editions,” said Mr Hans Wu, the Marketing Director of the company. “What attracts me is the professionalism and broad connections brought by this exhibition. We target buyers from Europe and America. Without a branch in Hong Kong, participating in the fair enables us to reach out to our target buyers more effectively.”
Mr Kostas Moisiadis from the Export Department of Diakakis Imports SA, also expressed his satisfaction at meeting diverse buyers. “We have exhibited at five editions. We return because the interest from South East Asia and Europe continues to be strong and we received good contacts at previous editions. We are trying to target distributors and big retail chains. We have made around 40-50 contacts from the Philippines, Malaysia, and India and also some from Europe. The quality of visitors has been good. We will return to the fair in future editions.”
Many local Hong Kong exhibitors also have a track record of achieving solid business results at the fair. MIS (Asia) Limited, promoted their Hong-Kong-themed red pockets and lucky money envelopes at the 2019 show. Mr Travis Kwan, the company’s Sales Manager said: “With buyers coming from all around the world, we are able to promote our products to a global audience.”
Synergy for more business opportunities
The Hong Kong International Stationery Fair will be held concurrently with the HKTDC’s Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair, the Hong Kong Baby Products Fair and the Hong Kong International Licensing Show at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Both the Toys & Games Fair and the International Licensing Show are the largest fairs of their kind in Asia. The four fairs together will gather approximately 126,000 buyers, creating more business opportunities for exhibitors.
